Our Missionary presence in Mozambique

Mozambique still bears the scars of a difficult past, yet its people carry an extraordinary resilience and an unwavering hope for the future. When the Shalom Community arrived in Maputo, we knew our greatest calling was to bring the gift of true peace—Shalom—to heal, reconcile, and inspire the hearts of a vibrant generation of young people.

Today, that mission has become a living reality. Alongside our missions in Madagascar, Algeria, Tunisia, and Cape Verde, Mozambique stands as a beacon of hope in Africa. We believe that when the Gospel transforms the hearts of young people, they become the leaders who shape a better society. That is why our missionaries serve every day throughout the Archdiocese of Maputo through strategic initiatives such as:

 

University Ministry: Providing spiritual accompaniment, Christian formation, and community for university students—the future leaders of the nation.

 

School of Prayer: Creating spaces for prayer, healing, and reconciliation through the Way of Peace, helping restore hearts and strengthen communities.

 

Outreach and Humanitarian Support: Integrated work and an appropriate response to the most urgent human and spiritual needs of the Mozambican people.

 

We believe that the Gospel is the answer for this generation and the generations to come. As hearts are transformed by the peace of Christ, we are witnessing the birth of a renewed society.
