Our
Story
For over 15 years, the Shalom Catholic Community has been sowing love on African soil. Today, through the Space of Peace in Antsiranana, those seeds have blossomed, supporting 144 children who receive far more than literacy lessons each day: they receive dignity, nourishment, love, and the hope of a new future.
Our Mission with Families
We believe that a child’s transformation begins with the strengthening of their family. Therefore, while the children learn, their parents are engaged in a process of evangelization and human development, restoring their dignity as children of God.
What We Do at Espaço da Paz:
Education and Faith
High-quality academic education combined with deep spiritual formation.
Addressing Vulnerability
Direct support for children who, without this initiative, would have no access to formal education.
Nutrition and Care
Daily meals, essential for each student’s healthy development and learning, are provided.
Family Support
Cooking workshops and vocational training courses empower parents, helping them regain hope and support their families.
Where the Future Comes Alive with Color, Flavor, and Hope
In Madagascar, the Space of Peace serves as a daily refuge for 180 children and young people. More than just a project, it provides support to families facing severe financial hardship.
Here, care is comprehensive: we offer nutritious meals, literacy classes, art workshops, and support for children with special needs. We are also celebrating the arrival of a new playroom a true gift of Providence for learning and community life.
But the impact goes even further:
Training and Income: our cooking program teaches young people how to make bread, cakes, and jams. From this initiative, participants also began reusing discarded materials, creating workshops in recycled crafts and fabric painting. These are professional training opportunities that offer certification and dignity.
Comfort in Suffering: inspired by the words, “I was sick and you took care of me” (Mt 25:36), we visit hospitals, bringing care and the assurance that no one is forgotten.
