Our Missionary Presence
in Cape Verde

The presence of the Shalom Catholic Community in Cape Verde is a living expression of a deep desire: to bring the peace and joy of the Gospel to the people, responding generously to the Church’s missionary call. Since its foundation in the city of Praia, the mission has been committed to becoming deeply rooted in the local reality, embracing the richness of Cape Verdean culture with respect and gratitude, and actively collaborating with existing pastoral initiatives in the country.

Sustained by its own charism, the Community has, over the years, become a place of encounter with God, human and spiritual formation, and the promotion of human dignity. The missionaries dedicate themselves entirely to proclaiming Jesus Christ, working closely and compassionately with young people, families, and those living in situations of social vulnerability.

Guided by the desire to build a culture of peace and solidarity, the mission in Cape Verde moves forward in deep communion with the local Church. Together with volunteers, benefactors, and community members, the missionaries renew their commitment each day to sow hope, witnessing that true happiness is born of God’s love, which is received and shared among brothers and sisters.
